Congratulations on getting your baby back!
In the state in which your car was for most of the 100 days it is entirely possible that they disconnected the ground wire when removing seats etc and then did not tighten it down when they put it back together.
I would love to have a connection to the inside scoop on this entire situation but of course that could just be my lifelong mistrust of car dealerships and my fear of Jaguar electrical systems ;)
I suppose we have to give them a pass since we’ll never know the whole story. I actually think the guy who texted me that info probably overshared. He was the one guy who felt terrible for us and I truly felt like he cared about my personal situation and challenges.

If disconnecting the ground is standard process during a massive tear apart like this, wouldn’t the tech know that needs to be reconnected? Or, he forgot and remembered. Imagine that light bulb moment. “Oh shit! I forgot to reconnect the ground wire!” Done. Magic happens. Frankenstein is alive. My husband asked how many parts they had left over. Everybody laughed. I did not.

And he was sad about returning the rental Wagoneer. He’s actually thinking about getting one now. I was a bit shocked that he’s going to consider something besides a pick-up. Nope. Wrong. He wants both. On the way home from dropping off the white whale at Budget, I chuckled at seeing him all crumped up in my passenger seat. He’s 6’4” and LINUS is not made for XL people. 🦒 Getting a Jaguar was a huge departure for this Mopar family! Back when we were looking at cars, I test drove a Range Rover Evoque and his head hit the ceiling. At least the F-Pace has a skosh more headroom and was what I wanted anyway.

Glad it all worked out in the end.
My husband is 6'2" and I think that is the limit for height on the F-PACE. My husband is also a firm believer in having the car he wants but also having a pick up but what I don't understand is his most recent choice was a crew cab pick up but he still felt the need to keep the old extended cab pick up 🤣

Haha. Men and their prized possessions. My husband’s accumulated junk leans toward ‘green and yellow’ (John Deere)

One final parting gift from the dealer. This is the mess I brought home. My car was pristine when they received it. There was not a speck of dust on my dash, console, carpet, or cargo mat. Of course they’ll apologize and tell me to bring it back. NO. It needed immediate cleaning. I spent almost five hours on Saturday working on the interior. Used at least 100 lint roller sheets on the carpet crevices and 3/4 bottle of Resolve. Removed all mats and power washed, soaped, scrubbed, and power washed them again. Still need to do the tires and all the body parts inside the doors, so I still have another couple of hours.

The smell was better. Still a hint of that wretched ‘odor’, but hoping that will air itself out. Went to pick up a pizza Sat night and when I started him, the smell came blasting out of the vents. IT’S COMING FROM THE A/C?? You’ve got to be f kidding me. Because, one of their suggested maintenance items that we approved last week was ‘A/C DEODERIZER and FILTER-PARTICLE - Removed and replaced the cabin air filter per the service instructions‘. Cool. I paid $204 for my car to smell like rot.

They said, “Is it possible to allow our detail team a crack at your vehicle? Be happy to take care of that for you.” No.

We got the Grid Guard put together and it seems to be working well. So far, we seem to be killing a bumper crop of crickets. The Grid Guard rep told me that crickets have also been known to nibble on wire casing. I have a trail cam set up in the garage, and, ideally, there will be zero triggers. I dont want to see mice, but, I do kinda want to see this thing in action.

We’re going to kick some tires tomorrow. I’d like to look at Audi Q8, but am gun-shy about anything foreign. Honestly not excited about looking at anything. I know. First world problems.

Another gut punch arrived this evening. Text from the guy at the dealership who feels terrible for us and gives us more info than the service manager -

“I’m sorry for the delay in not texting every day we are changing to a new system and rewriting all our paper work, Tech did get the wires repaired but vehicle is still not correct he is looking for more wiring that might be chewed up I will text more tomorrow. Again my apologies.”

A few tears and then renewed resolve to not let this consume me. My complaining is limited to this forum and close friends, because it’s actually quite embarrassing to have a luxury car that has been in the shop for 100 days. I guess, stay tuned for the next sad chapter in this unfinished mystery novel.
Navigating car troubles, especially with a luxury vehicle, can indeed be frustrating and emotionally draining. It's understandable to have reservations about foreign brands and feel disheartened by the ongoing issues. Keeping a positive mindset and seeking support from trusted individuals can help during these challenging times. Here's hoping for a resolution soon and a smoother journey ahead.

Shameful that they returned your cat in that condition. Please send pics to managers and ask them what they think?

I'm sorry to hear about the challenges you're facing with your F-Pace. It's frustrating when your vehicle is in the service bay for an extended period without a clear resolution. Here are a few steps you might consider:
  1. Contact Jaguar Corporate Customer Service:
    • Reach out to Jaguar's corporate customer service directly. You've already initiated contact with a Global Customer Service liaison, but you may try calling their customer service hotline for more immediate assistance.
  2. Escalate through Dealership Management:
    • Speak with the service manager or general manager at your dealership. They might have additional resources or contacts within Jaguar that can expedite the resolution.
  3. Document Everything:
    • Keep detailed records of all communications with the dealership and Jaguar corporate. Note dates, times, names, and any information exchanged. This documentation can be valuable if further escalation is necessary.
  4. Explore Lemon Law Protections:
    • Depending on your location, there may be Lemon Law protections in place. Research the laws in your state or country to understand your rights and options if the issue persists.
  5. Seek Legal Advice:
    • If the situation remains unresolved, you might want to consult with a consumer rights attorney to explore potential legal avenues.
  6. Social Media:
    • Consider reaching out to Jaguar on social media platforms. Companies often monitor their social media accounts closely, and a public mention might prompt a quicker response.
