It is interesting that you cannot order the portfolios with the V6, yet all the existing ones have the 3.0 V6. Weird that they would switch engines mid assembly. That should make the V6 portfolios very limited. Do you guys know if they offer the ambient configurable mood lighting as an option for all the trims? Or is this exclusive to portfolios? None of the other cars I test drove had this feature. Its pretty neat and really makes the interior look great at night. When you put it into sport mode it all turns red. Of course you can change the colors to whatever your preference is.

The configurable mood lighting is part of the lux package on the S (and maybe R-Sport? Not sure) but not the lower trim levels, Prestige or Premium.

Definitely offered on the R-Sport.

I hope no one finds this remark *offensive* , but *GR* thinks the seats in the *Portfolio* look like someone spilled a big cup of *ORANGE SHERBET* all over my *GORGEOUS JET SEATS & DOOR PANELS*!!!
:laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh:>:)
I think that color is funny looking , but definitely not a *waste* !!!;)

Sherbert! Bwahahahaha! No offense taken as my feelings are not so easily hurt! Haha.
Back to the topic of the value, when I just built an S with all the options mine has it was 71,200. My Portfolio sticker was 65,700. So I got all the stuff of the S - 40hp that is not palpable, plus the edition of the finer leather. All in all back to the OP I think the value is there if you want those options the portfolios come with. If you want the S badging and 40hp, or the Driver assistance package, then you would likely value the S better. This of course is talking about an existing portfolio with the V6, which is not the same as if you were to order one custom.

And you are missing out the Adaptive Dynamics with Configurable Dynamic Mode.

Ohh yes thats right!

The seats in the Portfolio are incredibly comfortable.

I mean I could live without that extra 40hp, exclusive interior design options, and some S badges in exterior/interior area. Assembling a Portfolio with all the options that I want would net me with more features for less money spent. What kills the deal for the S for me is the Climate Seat and the Luxury Packs which come as standard for the Portfolio and costs a lot for the S also the Car Parking Assist Pack costs more for the S than the Portfolio. True with the Portfolio I'd have to pick the Adaptive Dynamic Pack but it's not as expensive as all those mentioned optional features. Not to mention the multimedia upgrade for the S is also more expensive for the 825 Meridian than the Portfolio. In the end if I want the exact same features I would have to spend around $6,500 more for the S.

Unless I want to sacrifice the Climate front seat and Luxury packs, the portfolio seems like the better deal for going full luxury optional features. Am I missing something?
I am way late on this but I faced the same dilemma as you. I really liked the look of the S but the no cost options in the Portfolio, like the HUD, air-conditioned seats, heated steering wheel, ambient lighting, tech package, adjustable rear seats, included mats, etc., etc. ended up being a better value. I don't think I am missing that 40hp--the Portfolio's V-6 sings.

Where are you getting $6500 diff between a Portfolio & S? The base price difference is $5000.
And I have not seen what the full details are of the Portfolio equipment, but here's the S added features over a Prestige that the Portfolio is based.
F-PACE S

For pure sports performance, the F-PACE S includes the 3.0L, 380hp Supercharged V6 engine.
Includes F-PACE Prestige key features, plus:

  • 3.0L 380PS Supercharged V6 engine
  • 20" Alloy Wheels
  • Adaptive Dynamics with Configurable Dynamic Mode
  • Adaptive Surface Response
  • Red Brake Calipers
  • ‘S’ Body Kit including sports front and rear bumpers, body-colored S door claddings with satin chrome finishers
  • Satin Chrome exterior finishers on front grille, diffuser and side power vents
  • Metal sill finishers and multi-function steering wheel with ‘S’ branding
  • Full LED headlamps, adaptive with Intelligent high beam
  • 14x14 Way Sport-style seats with ‘S’ embossing, 4-way front seats power lumbar and memory
  • Lane Keeping Assist & Driver Fatigue Alert
  • Blind Spot Monitor with Closing Vehicle Sensing
  • Reverse Traffic Detection
  • SiriusXM Satellite Radio
  • Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB)
  • Front fog lamps
Missing the tech package, HUD, AC seats, heated steering wheel, opening the back with your foot (whatever that is called), adjustable rear seats, 20 way adjustable front seats and perhaps a few other things. Taken together, those options on the S put the price comfortably above the Portfolio's, which is why I find the Portfolio to be a better value.

I understand it comes with the 3 options packs & HUD, but what about things like AEB, ASR, blind spot, lane keeping, reverse traffic, adaptive dynamics that are standard on a S but not on a Prestige that the Portfolio is based.
I believe it has all but the adaptive dynamics. Does have lane keep assist but does not have the adaptive cruise control, which is something I would kill for.

Not at all admonishing those who have the S! I love all the F paces I see actually. I feel like every color and every difference is awesome. The thread topic is Portfolio vs S. in terms of value. I stated my opinion and gave a source. I feel like the S is a poor value in regards to the 40 extra horsepower. While a new member and new owner of an F pace, this does not mean I cannot have an opinion different than others. I wish Jaguar would have made a bigger jump to quantify the S badging. It pretends to be something its not. It should be much quicker IMO.
I agree with the value proposition stated here but I do believe the S is the better looking car. Compromises, compromises. Oh well, if money were no object I'd....have the Lambo SUV....

THere is some confusion on this point. Originally it was just white.....and the ones on the lots seem to confirm this. But others are saying the color can be changed.
Correct, originally could just get it in white. Actually, it's supposedly a "special" white. The dealer wasted a lot of wind explaining this but it in the end, it's just a white car with a deeper tan interior.

Hey McKinney, thanks. Please ignore my ignorance, but what do you mean the Portfolio will only come with the I4 at 300hp? I was under the impression the 3.0 supercharged engine that is in the portfolio is the same 3.0 supercharged engine in the other models?

You are right. Saying the S was a waste was a dumb term and not what I meant. My appologies. Buying the S for the power difference is what I feel like is sort of a waste. Not the S itself.
Correct. They are no longer making the 300 HP, supercharged V-6, the 35 T.

My dealer was very quick to point out this is the same engine in the base F-Type. I acted surprised and didn't also remind her it was the same engine in the XF I was trading in. :D

As I understand it, 4 cylinder or the S. That's it.
