Over on Facebook, Jaguar F-Pace SUV Owners: A really helpful JLR employee, Damian Dinning, posted this:

(Sorry for the spacing, FB is primitive in this regard. SCREENSHOTS are over on the FB group if you want to see some of these enhancements. You should join the group...
I just checked my USA Pivi version, 2.1.6, 3Nov21, so I am ready.)

OS3.0

Hi everyone. Great news. Over the coming days we will start the roll out of OS3.0!

This is the first of a number of major updates coming over the coming months. As always please note we use a staggered roll out so not all vehicles will receive the update at the same time. Please note: Depending on your vehicle you’ll need to be running 2.1.6 or 2.1.7 before 3.0 can be installed. Search for another post I wrote a while ago on over the air updates and tips for ensuring they download and install as soon as possible.

The official release notes are listed at the end, but I wanted to use this post to share some additional info /tips related to the most important addition as part of this update – Wireless Apple CarPlay & Wireless Android Auto.

As the words suggests, this update enables the ability to use your compatible Apple iPhone or Android smartphone without the need for a USB cable.

We’re also with this release introducing some enhancements to how Apple CarPlay & Android Auto are integrated into the Pivi/Pivi Pro experience, specifically Pivi/Pivi Pro’s homescreen to provide a more seamless experience than the typical Apple CarPlay & Android Auto experience.

First things first, getting set-up to use your smartphone wirelessly...

In most cases you’re going to need to delete your phone from Pivi/Pivi Pro AND within your smartphone’s Bluetooth settings, so let’s go ahead and do that first.

From virtually any Pivi screen click on the settings cog in the bottom corner of the touchscreen. Click ALL > connectivity > Bluetooth > <name of the phone you wish to delete and set-up for wireless CarPlay / Android Auto > scroll to the bottom and click on ‘Forget Device’.

Now go to your smartphone’s Bluetooth settings and find your vehicle in the list of paired devices. Delete/forget it.

Now, go back to Pivi’s Bluetooth settings and click on ‘Pair New Device’. Follow Pivi’s onscreen instructions but also look out for pop-up messages on your smartphone as you’ll need to accept some of these to ensure it connects.

Once the phone is paired Pivi will ask if you wish to use your phone with Apple CarPlay / Android Auto. Agree to this. Again, check your phone for similar requests.

In most cases you should now be done, but in case here’s a few things to check and a few tips.

First a few of Pivi’s settings:
  1. Connectivity > Apple CarPlay / Android Auto (depending on your phone of course), check the switch is set to automatically launch Apple CarPlay/Android Auto when your phone connects to the vehicle – by default this should be set to on. If you prefer you can manually start/stop Apple CarPlay/Android Auto from the button above this control.
  2. Connectivity > Wireless. This setting MUST be set to On. By default, it should be.
  3. Your smartphone’s Bluetooth settings. There is often a setting for Apple CarPlay or Android Auto in Bluetooth or wireless settings. Ensure this is enabled. Whilst you’re there if you wish to use messaging with Pivi Pro given Pivi Pro also supports message dictation in this release ensure show notifications is enabled on iPhone. Some Android phones have similar permission settings. This enables Pivi to display incoming text messages and then allow you to reply or send further messages. Remember Pivi also supports wake words. Go to settings > All > General > Voice Settings > Wake Word > Enable ‘Wake Word’. By default, this is Hey Jaguar. Alternatively, if you enable ‘My Wake Word’ you can record your own wake word. Mine is ‘Hey Pivi’, but you can use pretty much whatever you like as long as it has sufficient syllables for recognition.
With this set-up you can say ‘Hey Pivi send a message to <name of contact>’ on mobile.’ Pivi will then display a dictation screen for you to start dictating a message.

You can also use message templates. My favourite is the one which sends your ETA as a text along with your destination and then automatically follows this up with updates if you’re running late.

With your Apple iPhone / Android smartphone connected over Apple CarPlay / Android Auto respectively you can also interact with Siri / Google Assistant through a long press of the speech recognition button on the steering wheel button.

Ok so that’s the set-up out of the way.

As part of this release, we’ve also enhanced the integration of Apple CarPlay / Android Auto.

There’s a couple of important points to note here:

First let’s talk about what’s new. Now the phone, media and navigation tiles and their respective shortcuts in the sidebar will link directly to Apple CarPlay/Android Auto. This allows direct calling to favourite contacts (if the phone supports this) or recents directly from Pivi’s homescreen. If using Apple Carplay and Apple Maps or Android Auto and Google Maps the nav tile will now display information from those apps in Pivi’s navigation tile.

The media tile also supports control and information depending on the connected device and media app in use. If using phone, media or navigation from a connected smartphone (connected via Apple CarPlay/Android Auto) the side bar icons will now also link to those apps.

IMPORTANT: This now means when you click on the navigation shortcut in the side bar (assuming there is a connected phone) this will launch the last used navigation app whether it be on your phone or Pivi Pro’s built-in navigation system. If you only use Pivi Pro’s navigation OR say Apple Maps via Apple CarPlay this will make life easier for you as this shortcut will launch the app you use regardless of where it is hosted. We expect most people will use one or the other. If, however, you like to use both, to launch Pivi Pro’s navigation app having previously used a navigation app on a connected smartphone, relaunch Pivi Pro’s navigation from the app launcher. Once you’ve done so and set a destination, the home tile and side bar shortcut will revert to link to Pivi Pro’s navigation system.

OS3.0 Release Notes:

Introduction of wireless Apple CarPlay™ & Android Auto®*

Apple CarPlay™ & Android Auto®* is now integrated into Pivi's home screen.

Connected Speech can be used to control TuneIn and Deezer

Message Dictation is now supported

Clearer icons for phone and vehicle signal strength

You can now also confirm a destination to start guidance directly from the search results list in the keyboard, removing one or two steps as we continue to refine the Pivi experience and aim to reduce steps wherever possible.

I do not believe so. If you want 3.0 the best way to get it maybe to take it into the dealer if one is close to you and say you want to software update. That is what I did, but I also had other reasons to take my 21 back in for service and my dealer is pretty close.

I don't ever remember seeing version 2.1.7 think I went straight from 2.1.6.b to 3.0. but it's interesting that 2.1.7 includes improvements to tow bar software as prior to 3.0 I was always getting an error "Rear Traffic Breaking not available whilst towing" pretty much every time I put the car in reverse even though I've yet to use the tow bar. That error hasn't appeared recently now I think I have an explanation why.

Interesting note to share. I have a 2021 F Pace P400...I am on OS 2.1.7 and my wireless carplay works perfectly. I just bring my phone into the car and Apple Carplay shows up in about 5 seconds, without wires. Only pointing it out because I'm not on OS 3.0. Seems that wireless carplay isn't necessarily related to 3.0.

I did however, take my car in for service the other day...and I asked for Pivi 3.0. They told they could only update it to the level the system would allow and they said they didn't know anything about the wireless carplay option...but that they would update whatever they could. So somehow the wireless carplay was updated...becuase I was on OS2.1.7 since December but did not get wireless carplay until after the service...which was January 8th.

Since you just got 2.1.6 last week via OTA, it takes time for the OTA system to push the next update. Again, if you aren't having any issues, be patient. The more drive cycles, the more it checks into home base.

One trick is to drive the truck for at least 1 mile/2km, press and hold the service button (to the left of your sunroof controls) until the fast blink turns to a slow blink. That forces the truck to call home and check in. Anyone with remote start/lock issues can do this as well and is the first thing Jaguar technical support does to ensure connectivity is working properly.

Please make sure you're in a good cell service area and don't turn off the engine until the service light turns off.

So this morning when I got in the car, version 2.1.6b was waiting and is now installed. Notes told me it’s the release for future features etc. hopefully not too far from downloading 3.0.

Apologies for the miscommunication. I was informed it was dealer only in the US until February 2022, which has proven to be incorrect.

Many have posted they have received 3.0 OTA in this thread.

Your dealer should be able to do the update though, especially if you're having issues. If not, they probably don't want to waste their time.

Please read my earlier post in this thread with more details. I suggest having them update your IGM, ICCM, and TCU since they are dependent on each other.

I wasn't sure I should have already received it or not on my car. It's a new car picked up in November and I only got the 2.1.6 (last version prior to 3.0) last week so I believe the car should eventually get the OTA 3.0 downloaded which hasn't happened yet.

Thanks for letting me know, I will wait a few days and see if I get it. I don't drive the car a lot so perhaps that's the reason it takes longer, I don't turn the engine on more than once a week etc.

For those having issues with wireless car play. I'm using a Samsung S10 so I'm not sure if the same will work on Apple.

Unpair your phone from your vehicle: Settings > All > Connectivity > Bluetooth > Forget device.
Remove your vehicle in your phones Bluetooth settings (if there)
Forget your vehicle WiFi in your phone WiFi settings (if there)
Forget all previous connected cars in Android Auto.
Update Android Auto to the latest version (7.0.614134)

Reboot your phone.
Reboot PiviPro (parked, ignition on, hold the volume button by the shifter down for 30 seconds)

Pair your phone to your car via Bluetooth (let the setup take a minute, it will connect to vehicle WiFi, etc.)
Check on your phone that Android Auto is set to wireless.
Check on your vehicle that Android Auto is set to automatically start.

I haven't issues with the music stopping from time to time. I just have to restart it and its fine again. I'm using apple CarPlay though. Connection with wireless CarPlay is much faster than with the device I was using. So far so good.

Same here, Apple Carplay/iPhone/SiriusXM App running on iPhone OR stored music on iPhone - every other trip or thereabouts it just stops and I see a picture of the F Pace in the ip. Hit the play button and works fine. Sometimes it lowers the volume as well. This is the same issue/symptoms as before wireless.

Wireless itself is working great! Waze is ready to go when I am (after turning off the damned Auto-start function EVERY start up). Wireless charging continues to work. I have an Apple leather case which hasn't been causing any problems.

Anyone else having issues with 3.0 update? My Android Auto connection is very buggy. The screen can't decide between light and dark mode. For some reason, I cannot access any settings in the PiviPro interface, even when parked/not driving. 3.0 worked well for about a week but now it seems completely buggy. Since I can't access any settings, I can't even try to disconnect/reconnect my phone.

I’ve tried all that as well and still same level of inconsistency. Case or no case, left, right, upside down, right side up, etc. something is is screwy with the handshake with phone to charger. Wish I could see the logs.
It’s been one of those pet peeves I’ve been surprised it hasn’t been brought up a ton on the forum. Decent segment of the population is on iPhones…

So the cases on the iPhones definitely make a difference. I'm using a case on the iPhone 13 with a clear backplate. It does work better without it. Also, my phone always charges more consistently with the top of the phone towards the passenger side and the bottom of the phone pulled near the stopper on the left. Middle of the phone should be in the middle. It also doesn't work as consistently if the phone is hot (like from sitting in the sun). I think there is a sensor on the car side in the pad to not let the phone get too hot while charging.

Got my 2021 FPace SVR back from the dealership and all the service items are done and I now have PiviPro 3.0 with wireless CarPlay. It's working very well with no issues at this point. They also fixed a few other things I'll mention in another thread with the battery and SOS messages. And they fixed the brake issue I ended up creating when I changed the pads more on that in the other thread. Hopefully, this will continue to work well. Also my iPhone 13 Pro is now charging pretty consistently on the wireless charge pad.

Did the update with no issues over the air. Connected CarPlay just fine. But I’ve never gotten my iPhone 13pro to charge wireless beyond a few seconds. I’ve got a note10 Android around that works perfectly. My GF iPhone 12 same issue charging wirelessly as mine. It has to be something with iPhones. Her genesis gv70 has wireless charging and I’ve tried all 3 phones and they work exactly as one would expect.
I don’t know I’m just kind of surprised something as straightforward as that isn’t working.

got the update yesterday

  • It took 5 minutes for the system to find any radio station
  • I had to change back to km/h from miles
  • incontrol login does not work in car (password is good, I can login on web, password recovery also does not work)

and WIRELESS ANDRIOD AUTO STILL DOES NOT WORK
  • system asks for usb connect in the menu
  • already removed my phone and added again
  • on the phone wireless android and everything enabled

It works random. Some time connect with auto from first second. Some time connect only after you push "switch on" in connect menu.
But, any way, it works and you need no any cable's.
Will wait for next updates )
Mainly iy is good for Spotify/Deezer/Vradio. And GMaps, of course. All other is for your personal choice.

Are you guys triggering the download?

when I got to settings and software update I don’t get anything besides.

This update surprised me. My other update showed up when I turned the vehicle on. This update showed up when I turned my vehicle off last night. I did nothing to try and trigger it.

I need to go to the dealer, because I do not think you will get the automatic download if your car is reporting any issues. Since I have the brake problem, along with eh SOS issue and now a battery low message, I took it into the dealership. They will do the install. I actually got a call from them Yesterday and took it in a week early. They have it now. Fingers crossed things will be fixed. More issues than my 2019 SVR since that car had no issues in the time I owned it until I totaled it taking it to the trade in. While I'm still happy I ordered this one last November and got it delivered to me and my wife in the hospital in May I've had a lot more issues with this one. Yesterday at the dealership the rear hatch unlocked but it wouldn't raise on it's own. Service writer said it had to do with the low battery message so clearly that's an issue.

Good to know. I was told by many Jag engineers and service technicians that it wasn't slated for OTA release until the new year.

If anyone isn't seeing it OTA, speak with your dealer as the version you're on may affect the OTA update, which is what I experienced.
