I've had a mirror install on all my previous cars. I've used Blendmount and it's been excellent.

Blendmount offer a fixture to install to the mirror in a FP. However Ive read about the solar reflector in the windshield that blocks ezpass and RD signals. If so then the mount may work but the V1 will not.

Has anyone looked at this ?

I had no apparent problems with my Escort 360 Max and didn't have it completely in the black dot section of windshield where ez passes, etc are supposed to be mounted. I also have heated windshield. Detector seemed fine.

Same here, but to address Blanko's question, I have not checked with the detector below the mirror.

And I agree on BlendMount, an excellent product!

Was it really picking up all police bands and laser? Someone mentioned that RDs still work but their effectiveness is reduced because of the solar glass. Detectable distance is cut by 50% or more. What's been your experience?

I don't really have comparative data to give you a correct answer. I bought it for this vehicle. It seemed to give me plenty of warning for both police and fixed speed limit radar (e.g. 60 mph warning radar on I-70). Not a lot of laser where I was driving. May know more after I drive same areas with 9500ci where sensors are all exterior.

I need to test my 360 out but only have the smart cord that came with it (cigarette lighter) and that would be a pain for the cord to be stretched out to center console...

I have and it does cut down the sensitivity considerably. When I first got my F Pace, I did not even realize the antenna was in the windshield. My V1 was not getting much range at all and I did not know why. Duh! Since I moved it up, and made a custom mount so it sits between the openings next to the mirror it is working as it should.

Pic of custom mount???
As soon as my car gets back from the dealer. It should have been back last week after getting the latest ICTP module installed. I basically modified a rounded tube of pvc plastic and drilled holes to attach the mount. The mount was then fit under the head liner which gives the V1 about 3/4 unobstructed clearance through the black dot area. I installed it using the savvy unit and bob. Really simple in this car. Make sure you use the bob unit or every time the engine on / off feature happens, it will restart. I am not sure the mirror power adapter will offset the power surge. I will post pictures as soon as the car is back.

Thanks. Think I will hold off getting it until I do some testing. If I have to put it high up then it will be a $130 mistake to buy a Blendmount and hang it from the mirror. My FP has a heated windshield to add to the issue.

Looking forward to seeing the custom mount for the clear area as I really want to have a permanent hardwired result.

I was also worried about the reduced capabilities of the v1 due to the windshield and have not purchased the blendmount. I just use the factory suction cup mount and placed it in the black dotted area next to the mirror. There seems to be a little reduced capability with this setup. I am also interested in seeing this custom made mount.

So the car is back. Basically, here is my custom install. I used the curved plastic and needed the curve for the headliner so it would give me the angle needed to stay pretty much within the black dot area. Here is an example of what it looks like and how it fits in. Hope it helps.

Thanks for the pics!

Never would have thought of that...

What are you sticking the piece of plastic into to make it hold the detector in place?
I modified a suction cup mount, removing the cups, and drilled small holes in the plastic. Because the radar is larger than the open area, and the roof gets in the way as well, the curve of the plastic angles it slightly up which is still far better than trying to get through the heated windshield and the film within.

PVC plastic pipe? What diameter?
The diameter could be anything that fits. It just has to be as wide as the mounting holes. The tricky part is getting it angled so it sits right. It still is not completely clear of the windshield, but I would say it is probably 3/4 clear. Between the heated windshield lines, and that thermal film it's a real killer for microwave frequencies. I love the fact that the windshield won't freeze, but if I had the choice, I probably would have went with the standard windshield.

Thanks for the pics. This really helps. Is there any wobble ?
Not at all since the edge of the radar is wedged into the side of the edge. I might eventually try to modify this even further with an angled metal piece but this works just fine and puts no pull on the headliner. I can't stress enough that if you go V1, get the savvy to install it. It's a piece of cake and automatically mutes alerts at whatever speed you preset it to. Also, the bob unit. Without it, your unit will cycle at every auto start/stop.

I was looking at the visor clip that came with mine and I think with some light modification it could work the same way.
