He never said drill out the nail or make the hole bigger. I'm sure they "pulled" the nail. Can't see why anyone would use a plug and a patch for the same hole.

they did actually drill the hole where the nail was.. which I was surprised about. I think the argument was to create a surface for the patch to adhere on the inside.

I think the only alternative would have been a patch/plug integrated repair.

in other news, I installed the wheel and noticed they chipped the paint on the rim near the bead.. so I have to look at getting the rim refinished now too. 🤦 the owner was pretty nice about it.. said he'd cover the repair.

I has a similar puncture in about the same spot. I had a patch applied and never had a problem.
