Tire Wheel Automotive tire Synthetic rubber Tread

noticed a puncture near the sidewall of one of my rear pirelli p zero pz4s. summer package has been off for the winter. dealer says need a replacement. just wanted to check if anyone by chance had a lightly used rear tire kicking around (and close to NJ). I know a lot of members end up with new tires/rims. otherwise I'm stuck buying a replacement.

it's the summer p zero, not all season. 295/35ZR22 (108Y)

picture for sympathy..

Interesting; I've had upwards of 10 tires with plugs, and a bunch more in the sidewall, the hole was too big, or, the puncture in the tread was not vertical. the "not vertical" couldn't be plugged. I never heard of fixing the tire by drilling out the nail hole to make a bigger hole!!!! As for suggesting you need a new tire, and the advice comes from the dealer, what do you expect????
He never said drill out the nail or make the hole bigger. I'm sure they "pulled" the nail. Can't see why anyone would use a plug and a patch for the same hole.

they did actually drill the hole where the nail was.. which I was surprised about. I think the argument was to create a surface for the patch to adhere on the inside.

I think the only alternative would have been a patch/plug integrated repair.

in other news, I installed the wheel and noticed they chipped the paint on the rim near the bead.. so I have to look at getting the rim refinished now too. 🤦 the owner was pretty nice about it.. said he'd cover the repair.
I has a similar puncture in about the same spot. I had a patch applied and never had a problem.
