Sunroof issues

Wondering if anyone here experienced this, I could not find anything about it.
The issue on our F-Pace is the sunroof. I encountered it the first time about a week into ownership, but it is getting worse now.
Sometimes, the sunroof will not close, both buttons moving the cover, but not the sunroof. I kept pressing both buttons at the same time(holding for about 20 sec or so) and the sunroof closed.
Another time, my wife had to turn off the car, turn it back on and then she could close the sunroof.
At the moment, we have to hold the button just to open, it does not open anymore when just hitting the button and the roof does not opens automatically anymore. Same with closing, we have to keep holding the button in order to close it.
The car is at the dealership at the moment, but was wondering if anyone experienced the same and if so, what was the fix.

Sadly to report that my moonroof issue has returned. Car is in the shop again and I hope they can fix it for good this time. Seems to me it i a lemon and may have to think about it.
Guess I spoke too soon also. After dealer renewed the Sunroof Motor/Module, the Sunroof Blind worked correctly for about a week. Now, I have to reset it daily (yes, daily, or every ignition cycle) to get the one-touch feature to work properly. Not a really big deal, but annoying for a new car with 4k miles on it (especially since it's already been repaired once).

Oh, and the service department at my dealership (Land Rover/Jaguar Houston North) won't have a loaner vehicle available for me until late June. Disappointing.
I dropped my car off last Thursday because of my on-going sunroof issues. I picked it up again one week later. I was beginning to think that the problems were heat related. The tech performed several tests and he noticed the pattern as well. He could reset the sunroof and it'd work fine as long as the temps remained mild. But when he'd go back in the afternoons after the temp had climbed the sunroof had reset and the auto open/close wouldn't work. I worked with tech support and discovered that there was a service bulletin for this exact issue. A new harness was installed and the auto open/close has worked fine the past two days. Only time will tell.

At least my dealer gave me a sweet fully loaded F-Pace S to drive this past week :)

I have had the 1-touch problem with my sunroof as well (sunroof = glass opens. moonroof = glass does not open :)) Dealer has reprogrammed it twice, it stopped working the very next day and I've just been living with having to hold my finger on the button for the last several months. Didn't know about the reset in the manual - i'll have to look that up. The last time I was @ dealer for fix, they told me that the power that moves the glass & shade is separate and a less powerful battery than the main battery, when the car is "off" it looses it's programming. Sounds like total BS to me. They're basically telling me that I can't be sitting at a red light with my car in the "off" mode of "auto-start" and open the stupid sunroof, otherwise it'll loose it's programming? If true, that sounds like a pretty janky piece of hardware for a luxury car.

Yeah, that's total crap. I open and close mine all the time in AUX power only and it doesn't "forget" its programming afterwards each time. I have had to use the reset procedure once since it wasn't closing all the way with the single touch (was popping back to vent instead of closed) but has preformed great since then.
If you haven't had a chance to look it up yet, the reset procedure is simply holding the roof "close" button for 10 seconds while the engine is running to start the reset then continue holding the button until it has done the full cycle (shade open, sunroof open, sunroof close, shade close).
The harness inside the roof liner are known to be defective. Have it replaced and the one touch problem gone.
Glad I found this forum. My sunroof will not open. The back corner pops up and down about a half inch but nothing else. The glass is not flush with the rest of the roof. Even the phone app says "sunroof open" but it looks closed? Looks like it is off the track? Lets see what happens. The car is only 4 months old with 900 miles... ughhhh
Sunroof broken again

After 4 days in service the sunroof was "recalibrated" and it worked twice. The third time I opened it the same thing happened and once again I have to bring it in to get it fixed. Love the car but this is disconcerting!
In the shop now for 2 weeks as they needed to wait for the new sunroof. They finally received it and now they are waiting for "new model" so they can calibrate it. because of the sunroof the car has now been in the shop 3 of the last 8 weeks with no end in sight? At least this time they gave me an F-Pace courtesy car. NY State lemon law criteria is almost met!

djd,

I feel your pain, that is a lot of time in the shop for a single issue. It does seem that sometimes more difficult things take a lot longer with Jag than I've seen with other manufacturers. I'm not sure why this is the case, but I'm sorry this is happening to you. Lemon law may be your best case solution. Get Jag to buy your car back and give you another F-Pace that is issue free. That is if you are thinking you want to stay with the F-pace!
I actually got it back yesterday and so far so good. They replaced the entire sunroof. The service manager told me even after they put the new roof in the same problem reoccurred! Recalibrated it and so far its OK.
I love the car so want to stay with F-Pace. However, if the problem persists I may go the lemon law route. Called NY State Attorney General yesterday for some clarification and it turns out that even if the car is in for the same thing 4 times or more and/or more than 30 days they will usually fight you on it and if its the sunroof they will claim it was not a substantial enough impairment. Also, they will try to use waiting for delivery of parts as rational for number of days in the shop which arbitration judge usually allows. Anyway, hope I don't need to go there and its fixed for good.

I’m new to the forum but thought I’d post my sunroof experience of today.
I purchased the car used (2017 r sport) at CarMax last night, took it on some local errands this morning, parked it and opened the sunroof as part of learning the car’s features. It wouldn’t close. I tried the reset procedure listed in the manual (holding the button for 10 seconds) several times with no luck. I disconnected the battery for 60 seconds, reconnected and tried the normal method of closing ( no dice), the reset procedure ( no luck there either) then on a whim pressed both the sunroof and sunshade buttons IN THE MIDDLE simultaneously... and that closed the sunroof.
About fifty years ago a family member had an xk120 which they loved but commented that it wasn’t so fond of the rain and so would decide not to start on those days (Lucas electrics). Maybe Tata purchased / revived Lucas ? :)

in my experience, the Ghost of Lucas lives on in the brand no matter who owns it ?
Well, looks like nobody has any sunroof issues. Git the car back after a week at the dealership, ut when I arrived home, I had the same problem. They calibrated the sunroof and tested, but the sunroof just won't close all of the sudden again. Take the car back tomorrow and hope they can fix it correctly this time. From my experience, there might be something loose in the electronics or so, because it just does it once in a while. It worked fine for 5 days, but stopped again today. Then I hit the button for the cover, but the sunroof is moving. This is so odd.
Was this something that was covered buy the Warranty??
I think a few have had some opening/closing issues but nothing like you reported that I can remember. Good luck. Hope to hear good news once you get the car back.
I'm at the Thousand Oaks, CA Dealership. I brought it in several times. After this experience, I'm not buying another Jaguar in the future.
I bought a 2017 f pace jaguar from a local dealer. Everything worked fine, took it to service, they changed the battery and now only one half of the sunroof opens. I was told it was not related to the battery and jaguar said the mechanism would need replaced. Meaning the roof would have to be cut out by a body shop.. it was so outlandish, i gave up. The shade works fine and I don’t know what else could be the factor. Please respond if you have anything
Does it not open all the way when pushing the button for it to open. Mine in all three of my F-Paces has had the issue that closing it wouldn't work sometimes just by touching the button once. but if you held the button to close it would close completely. Have you tried keeping the button pressed until it is completely open? That is the opposite of what I see, but worth a try for sure. Can't believe they would have to cut the roof to change it out. I also don't think that would be necessary. Might try a different dealer, if one is close.
It raises on one side, but not on the other. It does not go back at all. The shade works perfectly. I did try and nothing happened
Didn't know it only pops up on one side, was thinking half opened was meaning it would only open half way. That is a bit of an issue and very different to my situation. Sorry my suggestion didn't help. Did you put someone back there and when you go to open is did they try to push up on the side that hangs up and see if you could free it? I almost thinking maybe you shouldn't try this since getting it opened and not being able to close it would really be bad and take the car out of commission, but to be honest I would probably give that a try if it was me. Maybe it's just serious hung up.
