Sunroof issues

Wondering if anyone here experienced this, I could not find anything about it.
The issue on our F-Pace is the sunroof. I encountered it the first time about a week into ownership, but it is getting worse now.
Sometimes, the sunroof will not close, both buttons moving the cover, but not the sunroof. I kept pressing both buttons at the same time(holding for about 20 sec or so) and the sunroof closed.
Another time, my wife had to turn off the car, turn it back on and then she could close the sunroof.
At the moment, we have to hold the button just to open, it does not open anymore when just hitting the button and the roof does not opens automatically anymore. Same with closing, we have to keep holding the button in order to close it.
The car is at the dealership at the moment, but was wondering if anyone experienced the same and if so, what was the fix.

Well, looks like nobody has any sunroof issues. Git the car back after a week at the dealership, ut when I arrived home, I had the same problem. They calibrated the sunroof and tested, but the sunroof just won't close all of the sudden again. Take the car back tomorrow and hope they can fix it correctly this time. From my experience, there might be something loose in the electronics or so, because it just does it once in a while. It worked fine for 5 days, but stopped again today. Then I hit the button for the cover, but the sunroof is moving. This is so odd.

I think a few have had some opening/closing issues but nothing like you reported that I can remember. Good luck. Hope to hear good news once you get the car back.

Noel - - I, and I believe many others on this space have gone through this. The sun roof and sun shade are supposed to open and close by hitting the button once. I had to continuously hold down each button to get both to open or close fully. The service dept. discovered that there was a defective motor within the sunroof that was causing this. I suspect that is what is happening to you. Once they installed the new motor assembly, I have had no trouble whatsoever since.

I had an issue with the sun shade not retracting all the way to the rear. After several days in the shop, they replaced the motor and i've never had that problem reoccur again. As one member here pointed out, I suspect that might solve your moon roof/sun shade problems.

Side Note: I've always been told a moon roof has glass one can see though and a sun roof has no glass, which of course one can't see through. Anyone care to chime in here?
Thank you, I will let them know tomorrow. I appreciate that
I wanted to thank you guys. Got my car back and they exchanged the motor and everything works just fine.
They tried to calibrate it again, but unsuccessful, I mentioned the forum and the posts from you about the motor.
I am a happy owner now!!!

I've had the exact same issue with my sunroof. There's a reset process in the manual. I had to go through the reset process every 2 - 3 days. They finally replaced the sunroof module in January after 3 trips in for service. The sunroof had been perfect until this week. My old problem has reappeared. In the past 2 weeks I've had to reset the sunroof 5 times. I have appointment with the dealer to take another look at it. Argh!!!!

Sorry to hear that. Mine is working fantastic, but it has only been a week. I hope it is fixed for good.
Let us know how your problem is working out.

Same here, but I'm told that is soooo 1980's way of thinking. Today they are used interchangeably. Of course I find that when I tell someone that I miss "standard" transmission cars, most people have no idea that I mean "manual" in today speak.

I'll have to try that reset process as I just developed the sunroof issue in the last week or two.
Thanks.
I dropped mine off for service on May 3, 2017 and they installed a update to the sunroof controller. The update didn't solve my problem. I use open my sunroof almost daily...especially in the morning and late afternoons. I have had to go through the reset procedure every day since the update was installed...until today. I'm starting to think it could be related to the outdoor temp. We've had several hot sunny days in a row. Today is overcast and cooler. The sunroof has performed flawlessly today.

I have another service appointment schedule for May 18, 2017.

Interesting. Certainly temperature or humidity could affect a poorly insulated sensor, connector, chip, etc somewhere. They might have to consider replacing the whole controller or other components next time you bring it in instead of trying to do something simple again like reprogramming the controller.
New Forum Member Here......wanted to share my first problem with my new 2017 F-Pace.

Sun-Shade started acting up a couple of weeks ago. It would only open half-way, no matter what I did. Sun-Roof was working fine. Reset according to Owners Manual and it would open fully, but only if you held the button down the entire time (one-touch operation was not working in either direction). Multiple resets produced no improvements.

Took it to Dealer and they tried to "Reflash" the control module to no avail. Dealer wound up renewing the module and motor. Dealer said the module is encased within the motor, so they both have to be renewed at same time.

Just got it back after 3 days in shop and everything works fine now. Just like it's 'sposed to!

Identical problem for me nine months ago. The only resolution was replacement of the motor/module, haven't had a problem with either since that was done. You should be just fine.;)
