FYI, Just got a new F Pace R-Sport. I originally did not know about the heated screen being a issue for EZ-pass and radar detectors. After reading how neither would work. I did a lot of online
research and testing and discovered that if you mount the radar detector behind the frit dots high up on the extreme left and extreme right of the mirror. Both device work well.
These appear to be the cutouts for these types of devices. Tested the escort 360c up and down the NJ GSP this week and and both devices worked were mounted.

If I didn't mount it behind the dots. It did not work and had to hold the EZ pass out the sunroof/window. I tested the radar detector in the same manner.
When I had it mounted and encountered a signal I would note how many bars. I would then detach it off mag mount and hold it out the sunroof or out the drivers side window.
Bar strength basically remained the same. It picked up K band and x band effectively.

NOTE: The only way to get the mag mount high enough on the windshield to allow the w/the 360c to be mounted high enough to remain in the frizz total area
was to take the pivot bolt out and reverse the mag mount. You cannot mount it the way it comes out of the box with the mag mount like a inverted V it wont hold it high enough.
You need to reverse and stretch it out . This allows the 360c to sit high. Even though it appears the mag mount is blocking the signal. It apparently allows the signals to pass back and forth
to allow 360c to function. The only other way would be to somehow clip it the visor . But its difficult because it 360c has to be closer to the mirror to see thru the dots than a radar detector visor clip would allow.

Most people don't need a radar detector all the time, so a portable one is best, IMHO. It's also a **** of a sight cheaper. And if you hardwire, what happens if you do get pulled over in the states where a radar detector is illegal? Granted, that's not most of the US, but you could find yourself driving through one of those states. And what if you have more than one car? What if you are on a trip and pick a rental car? Don't you want your system with you? That's another problem with hardwire anything. It ain't very portable.

I have a Valentine One. Love it. I use it for highway drives of an hour or more only. I think V-1 and Escort are the best, assuming one prefers top-of-the-line consumer portables.

I haven't tried it yet with my F-Pace. I keep staring at the dramatically sloped windshield and tiny rear window, and I'm thinking will this work? LOL.

But I would never pay somebody 4K to hardwire a radar detector reviews system, even if I had the money to do it. That's a couple plane tickets to Europe.

Thread is back from the dead but relevant. I was shopping around today to replace my 2017 V1 with something stealthier to avoid the radar detector detectors (rdd). Thinking the new V1g2, or maybe escort redline series but they get some awful reviews on amazon.

prefer something stealthy, easy hardwire and tucked as close in to the rear view as possible, and dark mode for the detector with the display on phone or better, carplay.
