We have a 2019 F-Pace S, love, love, love the vehicle, have had a few minor issues, but this one scares the H**l out of us when it happens. Sounds like a dead short coming from the left front speaker extremely lod and scary. Lose all audio and then stops after we turn down the volume. Had it back for the most recent updates last month, and it has done it again. Any one else having this issue, and if so what was the remedy. Going to contact the dealer next week again.. A little apprehensive about having the dealer pick up the vehicle again, the last time for the annual service, we received several reports of the driver speeding and driving dangerously. Went to the dealer to complain and received lip service and an appology. They have since fired the driver for other complaints. Very embarassing for my wife, when her co-workers see her car going about 80+ MPH and weaving in and out of traffic. Car has vanity plates and only one of a few in this area. Oh well, I would have at least liked an e-mail from the service manager. But time to move on, any help with this issue would be greatly appreciated...

Can you tell us more about the sound and what exactly you're doing when it happens? here's some questions that a tech who knows anything about sound and/or electronics is going to ask. You may want to take the list of answered questions and give it to them, as it will help diagnose.

1: Is the stereo always on when it happens?
2: Are you listening to the stereo when it happens?
3: Or can the sound be at idle and it crops up?
4: If so, at what volume levels?
5: Can the sound happen if you're listening to other things? Like radio versus FM versus connected or bluetooth item?
6: Is the sound the same loud level no matter what your listening volume is at?
7: Can you describe the sound better? Is it a huge pop, or blast of white noise? Or is it a loud crackle or even something else?
8: When it happens, is it possible that the sound is actually whatever you're listening to but at full volume? If so, then this would indicate the volume pot is bad and/or grounding issues. Electronics shunt the signal to ground in varying levels to reduce or increase volume levels. Whenever you send audio to the main amplifier, it's always at full blast, and the volume pot just sends the signal to ground to reduce it. So at no sound, the preamplified signal is fully shunted to ground, waiting for your ear throttle input.

9: Does the sound have a ton of bass in it or is it mostly upper frequency stuff? Again, those questions help diagnose ground problems, RF bleedthrough problems or possible voltages getting to where they aren't supposed to be.

You say that when the sound happens, that it can only be "reset" by turning down the stereo to "off"??? Please confirm that one.

Guaranteed that it cannot be a speaker issue 99.9% sure. Has to be before that. Digital electronics and switching power supplies (versus conventional power supplies) make for strange problems sometimes. But still, something LOUD is obviously being amplified, so the problem is most assuredly before the main power amp stages.

I would first off, insist on a reflash of the Jag infotainment system and see if that takes care of it and flushes out any gremlins. ?

Good luck

Sounds like you're getting bitten by the known audio issue that seems to plague this system. All I can do is wish you luck. They've been trying to fix mine for over 6 months.

Hello @deafsoundguy,

I hope you're still out there...
Seems like you might be able to spot the issue better than Jaguar.
I have had 2 service appointments, and Jaguar has not solved the problem for my 2018 F Pace.

From what I understand so far:
The speaker short or "buzz" does not occur at lower speeds
60 MPH the speaker begins to distort.
The higher the speed, the worse it gets.
At times appears RPM related

*SOUND IS OFF! - occurs without the radio or media playing
*At high speeds 70 MPH+ the sound intensifies no matter what volume the radio is at.
*With infotainment system off, the speaker makes a static popping or cracking sound. Different then say.... radio static

With the initial visit, Jaguar could not identify a physical issue with the equipment or replicate the sound. (I assume they inspected the vehicle stationary)

The second visit resulted in an update, regarding a noise canceling software. After driving it home I still experienced the "shorting" at around 70-75 mph.

I would really appreciate any information or thoughts that might help.

Thanks
