Has anyone gotten their AT&T WiFi working?

We keep going in a circle. AT&T says the dealership must setup the base account. The dealership points us to AT&T and around and around we go.

Today we had the dealership on the phone with AT&T and still no go. AT&T couldn't access our SIM card with our VIN number.

Anyone get this accomplished and how?

Thanks

Hi there. I know the struggle.

If your mobile connectivity isn't working, check out this thread - maybe 3 or 4 posts in is the contact information for the person you need to email some information to (VIN and SIM ID).

It took about 3 days from the time I emailed them until it was activated and we were connected up. Look out for emails from AT&T when it is finally activated.

Not sure that your link above takes anyone to the right place. Please look at it and repost if you think it is incorrect. Thanks!

Here is the info that was posted a while ago on this, I am reposting for info only and don't have me vehicle so can't answer questions:

"To get your mobile data connected, have your dealer get your VIN# and ICCID# from your SIM card sent to:

Janelle L. Pharris
InControl, Service Lane Technology Specialist
1.201.818.8221
[email protected]

She will send the info off to the UK where it will then get updated with AT&T. Mine was sent today and it's supposed to take 24-48 hours and then the connection should be complete. Granted this is what I've been told so far. The proof will be in the pudding!!"

Works for me...it takes you to one of the many threads with contact information for the employee that does this. Where did it take you?

Once I sent my info to Ms. Pharris, it was about a one week turnaround. I still have never been contacted by AT&T, but my 3G signal is up and running.

I called the 800 number and got Jaguar support and didn't go through the dealer. It has nothing to do with AT&T. The manufacturer distributes the SIM cards and didn't associate the SIM card with the VIN number on the vehicle. It took them about a week, but they took care of the problem and everything is working fine.

The 800 number is the one that showed up on the AT&T sign-up site. You will get AT&T support and they will transfer you to Jaguar support.

I went to Verizon my cell carrier. They do not offer a SIM solution, probably because they are the only one (and Sprint) in the World that uses CDMA vs. everyone else that uses GSM. So my guess is that there is only a GSM solution available that will work with the car. I am resigned to using my cell phones hot spot if I ever need it.

Ken, on the contrary, verizon does use GSM for its 4g LTE and thusly, have SIM cards for devices that access its LTE network.

but since the word out on the street says the wifi option for the fpace only works for 3g, then verizon and sprint users are out of luck, and as you pointed out utilize only CDMA for 3g.

However, I'm perplexed why Jag would use a dated qualcomm chip, which only works on 3g bands, given the data plans from AT&T clearly are aimed at 4g LTE usage. Is the wifi hotspot truly confirmed to be 3g network only?

This should become a non-issue for future owners. It appears there was a range of vehicles where the ATT SIM card was not associated with the vehicle during manufacturing. There is now a service bulletin for dealers to perform the correct registration as part of the pre delivery process.

Was just at the dealer yesterday for the same non-working data connection. Sales manager informed me they placed an order for my vehicle with a new SIM card and will have it fixed and up and running on Wednesday when I drop it off for a few other issues.

I got it to work but after flaky results with AT&T 3g I pulled the SIM after 30 days trial. I have Verizon and they haven't tested the F-Pace yet so I can load a Verizon SIM into it. On another note using your cell as a hot spot and running the F-Pace through it yielded must better result and much faster. The news, weather, web browser kicked ass through the hot spot.

One of the few things that does work. It's a process but it works. The crazy thing is that we can't get the VIN to associate with the myconnection.att.com account. The entire process was a mess from start to finish. No one at Jaguar or ATT can explain why the VIN doesn't associate to the account yet its operational.

NO, and the dealer has tried for over 6 weeks to get it working. No one knows how to set up the trial account, but why even bother, it is only 3G. This is a 4G world and 3G is going backwards

The following is from the pre delivery letter several of us put together and before that is from a post a while back (it's also the same info as in Topix):

  • Insure the PersonalSubscriber Identity Module (PSIM) card Integrated Circuit Card Identifier(ICCID) number has been recorded and configured correctly and that WiFi and mobiledata capabilities are working including hotspot. WiFi capabilities and hotspot initialized AFTER vehicle telemetric GSM system is initialized.

My understanding is that some dealers and/or owners have had success supplyingthe VIN# and ICCID# from the ATT SIM card to:

I posted this elsewhere the other day, but I did have mine working but only after I signed up for a plan online with AT&T through the Jaguar portal. It said that I was out of data, so I signed up, gave it my credit card info and I got connected. Now this only worked with me rigging the SIM card to stay in the slot size it refused to stay in there on it's own. I ran for two days with the AT&T setup and was very disappointed with coverage as I often say the slash through the 3G icon, or the 3 blinking dots hunting for service (or reading the SIM card). I associated those connectivity issues to the SIM Card Slot challenges I was having, but it very well could be AT&T coverage.

I did give up on AT&T until I go back to the dealership after tying to get another SIM at an AT&T store and them telling me that only a Jaguar dealership can give me a SIM. I think Jag needs to tell me what's up with my SIM slot and why it won't hold the card, so I'm going to do that when I go in for the other things I need them to check out.

In the mean time I'm running with a Verizon LTE Mifi in the Center Console connected to a USB port for power and I leave it on. Car has continued to connect to the Verizon Mifi through Wifi consistently for the last two days with good success. Service is faster as well when using the browser in the car to test access. I may simply stay with this setup if I can insure that the battery in the Mifi will stay charged.
