All - I have 10k miles on my 2018 20d and for the past 3-4k miles, I've had a high pitched squeal from the passenger side on light or low-speed braking. The dealer replaced the front pads at 6k miles (when I took it in to complain) saying there was a service bulletin on the pads. No squeal for about 100 miles, and then it was back again.

Otherwise, brakes work perfectly fine with lots of stopping power at any speed. But the squeal is really annoying me.

Anyone else? Did you solve it? If so, what was the fix?

I had my 2017 F-Pace in for the 30,000 mile change in May and reported squeaky brakes. Dealer replicated issue and JLR replaced the rear brakes. Now 6,000 miles and 2 months later, the front brakes are squeaking.
She's in the shop now, service manager let me know they replicated the squeal and they cannot do anything for me at this point. It's a known issue but not fix! Frustrating!

I am now a member of the squeaky brakes club. My second annual service is coming up in two weeks, so I will ask the dealer to evaluate then.

I started noticing the squeak a week or so ago, off and on. I don't know if it's the front or the rear brakes. I have about 12,200 miles on the car.

I have had the same issue off and on. They replaced my brakes also but I hear it even when I am not applying the brakes, usually at slow speed.

I have it now, too. Like @EagleJag, I'm also getting ready to go in for my second service (I'm at 18.5K miles). It's on the list of things for them to look at.

I dropped the car off for service today and told the SA about my squeaky brakes. Subject, of course, to them actually looking at and testing the brakes, he told me that Jaguar warranties the pads for only 1 year/12,000 miles. I'm at 2 years and 12,900 miles. I'm easy on my brakes - never ride them and avoid slamming on them - and I've never had to replace brakes on any leased car I've ever had.

Does anyone who had his or her brakes replaced by the dealer after 1 year/12,000 miles have any TSB references I can refer the dealer to IF they come back and tell me my pads are shot and they are not covered under warranty?

Just got my car (2017 S) back today for the same issue. The dealership found a service bulletin (SSM73707) regarding the problem. Replaced the rear brakes, and applied a "lubricant" as suggested by the bulletin. 22K miles - no charge. Guess we'll see how long it lasts. FWIW; my squeak would also, on occasion, be noticeable WITHOUT applying the brakes.

Very helpful, SoCalGuy. Thanks, and keep us posted on the durability of the fix.

i just put a call into the dealer for status update, since I haven't heard anything since dropping it off yesterday morning. Will definitely ask him about this bulletin.

I went through the same scenario and had the same service bulletin applied. It didn't fix my problem. To me it sounds like it is coming from the front not the rear. My squeak also occurs without applying the brakes.

Keep us posted Eagle!
I spoke to the dealer a few hours ago and won't be getting the car back until next week due to a non-brake issue.

As far as the brakes, he told me that when they test drove it, they couldn't replicate the squeak. Of course, right? He then told me that the tech pulled the wheels off and found there to be very little brake wear. But he also told me that they cleaned up a lot of brake dust and lubricated the area (or something along those lines) - maybe that resolved the issue?

It just didn't add up, so I gave him the bulletin number that you gave me and asked him to pull the bulletin to see if it's relevant to my situation. He said he would do that on Monday and get back to me, BUT he told me that any bulletin beginning with "SSM" isn't covered by warranty!? I've never heard of that and was especially confused considering you just had work done under the same bulletin and it was a warranty job.

I don't know what's going on. Hopefully, I'll know more Monday.

My driving is all urban and suburban, but as it turns out, my pads apparently have minimal wear (but that's at under 13K miles).

Just picked up the car. They replaced the rear pads and rotors, per the bulletin that SoCalGuy posted above. So far, so good and no squeal. The SA told me that it shouldn't have been a warranty job (because I'm past 1 year/12K miles), but because I've only exceeded the mileage by 900, they "got it through" as a warranty job. SoCalGuy, did they say anything to you about the 1 year/12K mile brake warranty?

But anyway, had it not been for SoCalGuy posting the bulletin, I wouldn't have gotten new rear brakes. This is another example of how this forum can be helpful. In my opinion, the dealer should have found this bulletin without my having to research it. They have full access to Topix; I don't.

Same replacement for me and it seem like the problem went away but then came back later. When you heard the noise could you tell where it was coming from? To me, it seemed like it was coming from the front not the rear. That was why i was surprised they replaced the rear brakes. Anyway, like you I got new rear brakes out of it but I still hear the same noise but its not consistent.

I couldn't tell where it was coming from, other than it sounded like it was coming from the passenger side of the car. I didn't know if it was front or rear, but it was definitely from the brakes. My noise was a squeal that occurred not all the time, but fairly often, when I applied the brakes, especially when I braked from speeds of about 25 mph - 40 mph. To me, it sounded like the high-pitched squeal you'd get when your pads are shot, except my pads evidently didn't have too much wear on them.

Hey Eagle, Glad it worked out for you. My service dept didn't mention a word about any sort of "out of warranty" issue. Guess I'm just lucky to have a good group of guys taking care of my car. Now we'll just see how long the fix lasts...

Agreed, SoCalGuy, and thanks again for your help. Your service department seems solid. But it highlights an issue I pointed out in this forum many times - dealer inconsistency. We should all be getting the same feedback from dealers on these and other issues, but we don't.

So my advice to others is to be mindful of this potential brake warranty expiration date. If you have a brake squeal or other issue, take it to the dealer ASAP and don't wait for your next annual appointment. And go in armed with this service bulletin in case your dealer isn't able to identify the issue on his own.
