When I'm hard wired in to use Apple Car Play I can't get to the other apps on my phone. I listen to audio books through the Overdrive app but my phone doesn't show up under sources when I click back to Jaguar from the ACP menu. If I unplug it comes up through bluetooth. Any way to use any other aps that don't show up on Carplay while using Carplay? (I like to use Waze on long drives, and listen to audiobooks as well)
Figured it out - when I'm using my Overdrive app to play books I just start it up then plug into Car Play. The "now playing" app will pull up the info and I can toggle between that and Waze.:)

From the Verge:

"If you’ve got a new iPhone — the XR, XS, or XS Max — and have found that it can unexpectedly disconnect from CarPlay when in your vehicle, iOS 12.1.3 should get things working as expected again"

Awesome. Mine is usually rock solid since I got CarPlay but just today it disconnected on the drive home. Downloading the update now. Thanks for posting.

An Apple specialist conducted an over the phone diagnosis on my XS, as it is unable to function properly with Apple Car Play. The initial assessment is that there is a fault with the car, not the phone. Apple will contact Jaguar and explore the issue.

You’ve probably tried it, but in settings, general, CarPlay, go to existing profile, select forget this car and reconnect. Might help after latest update with CarPlay fix. I’m not having problems before or after 12.1.3 with XSMax.

Not that this is your problem but I had an enlightening experience with power cable problems while traveling. I was having trouble charging on a long flight even trying multiple power cords. When I got to my destination I found that two original apple power cables had somehow gone bad. I realized I had also had problems with these cables in the car. Bought two brand new original apple power cables, power problem solved, connection in car solved.

I second VZX suggestion on the power cable. I was having issues as well with a cable I purchased, brand new and supposedly Apple Certified off Amazon. It wouldn't connect, then would connect sometimes, it would drop, a lot of the things mentioned here. I tried the white apple cable that came with my phone and it worked perfectly. Not wanting the white cable, I ordered several different brands of black cables off Amazon and I found one that worked fine. So like, VZX suggested, I would start with your cable.

I also found that if you have two things plugged into the USB ports (I have a separate wireless charging pad), that sometimes the phone or CarPlay becomes confused which thing it's connecting to.

Lastly, I've found that sometimes, the phone itself has to be unlocked to allow CarPlay to activate. With 12.1.3, I think this issue may have been sorted since I haven't seen this one since the update.

Thank you for the suggestion. I tried it and it only worked for a bit. Then resorted to its miss behaviour

Another possible issue may be the USB connector in the Center console. Have you check use on both of them? Is it the same?

“Miss Behavior” - that should be the F-Pace’s name

Today CarPlay started randomly disconnecting.
Have been using a generic usb lightning connector for about a year with no problems.
Swapped out with the brand new Apple brand connector that came with my new phone.
Problem solved. Except for the white color.
So I can add to the database that ICTP is very sensitive to your usb selection.

A little off topic but here is a review of the high end Pioneer aftermarket head unit for CarPlay with WiFi connectivity vs. USB. Side note; I doubt we will ever see WiFi CarPlay connectivity for existing F-Pace’s, but I long ago didn’t think we’d ever get CarPlay so who knows what a future update might bring. I had an older, USB connectivity version of this Pioneer in my 2007 4Runner and loved it.

CarPlay running on the 18C update. I cannot get any streaming services to properly load, Google Play Music, Spotify and Pandora. Didn't think to check Overcast during this last test run. iPhone XS Max on 12.1.4.

My wife new BMW 440i xDrive convertible has wifi CarPlay. In fact I can't seem to connect it via a cable to CarPlay even though the sales guy told me you could do that. It has a wireless charger as well, but unfortunately it doesn't support the iPhone XS Max. Only smaller iPhones. With that said, I haven't seen any real drawbacks using wifi CarPlay in her car other than one thing. For some reason, while the car has a screen almost as big as my F-Pace ICTP's screen, Google Maps, or any CarPlay service only runs on about 2/3s of that screen. All the other normal BMW services leverage the full screen. I see that as strange and simply wonder if there is some bandwidth issue with CarPlay running on bigger screens in Wifi.

Interesting the Pioneer screen looks about as big as the 2/3rds screen image in my wife's car leveraging CarPlay.

With that said, Wifi CarPlay is very convenient for sure, but it takes me as long to get my phone on that wireless charger in the center console of her car, then it does to plug it in up front in the F-pace.

Did a quick check for you today. Same phone and software version. Spotify, Pandora, Amazon Prime Music, and Dash all worked fine. Those are all my streaming music I have loaded.

Thanks. If I unlock the phone and fiddle with the app on the phone a bit it will eventually load, but takes some work. Will see if there's a setting I'm missing.
