Who knows of any ECU tuning software that can allow you to really tune these vehicles. my goal is to add a port injection supercharger from Whipple along with a completely forged motor. I'm looking to produce 800 wheel horsepower on gas maybe 900 horsepower on E85. I understand I will need to beef up the drivetrain that's not a problem just looking for somebody who has tuning software or something like HP tuners that will be able to tune these vehicles properly.
Hi Ken,
We (VelocityAP) are the ones who have the most experience tuning the AJ133 and AJ126 engines. We have literally done several thousand tunes now. We use HP Tuners only for transmission tuning because it's the only tool that has the read/write protocol for the ZF8, but for ECU Tuning it's totally inadequate. HP Tuners is basic 'interface' tuning, meaning they predefine what you can edit (spark, fuel etc.) but beyond that there's thousands upon thousands of tables in the ECU controlling all sorts of things. One could use HP Tuners for a basic Stage 1 tune, but you could not even add upper or lower pulleys with HP Tuners because it doesn't offer the allowance for increasing the boost pressure. Any additional boost would be bled off and the car would throw fault codes.
In fact, the datalogging capability of HP Tuners and any other generic dataloggers is so superficial for this platform, that is the reason that we actually invested hundreds of hours into developing our own datalogging tool that will actually pull all the PIDs needed to tune effectively and furthermore will sample at a fast enough rate to get useful data.
I believe you have already been in touch with us by email about this. As you know, we have an FTYPE R which we have already begun the process of designing a 2650 blower kit for, including cooling upgrades, in that case some drivetrain upgrades etc. All of this is underway and I share your frustration that we can't just click our fingers and make it happen but we don't do things like this quickly without thorough research. You also asked us by email the question about the fuel system, I do not necessarily believe you would need port injection to get to those HP levels. Certainly there appears to be enough ceiling in the fuel system to breach 800BHP without requiring additional pumps or pressure (E85 may be a different story.)
So to cut a long post short - yes, we have the ability and expertise in house to do this properly. I don't believe anyone else in the world does. We are already engaged in developing this product and all the supporting mods needed to make it work reliably. We are already evaluating engine internals, working on upgraded rods, pistons head gasket/studs, cooling.
