Yes, its a great feature to have. When I go to the beach, I leave my key inside and strap up the activity key to go swimming in the ocean. Works just as advertised.

Just out of curiosity, do you leave your wallet, sunglasses, water bottle, and phone in the car too? The idea looks great on paper, but I imagine very few scenarios involve simply grabbing your surf board/kayak from the vehicle and then jumping straight into the ocean without having to worry about your other stuff that would also need to come with you but can't get wet. I go to the gym, snowboard, and play softball and would love to leave the keys behind, but still need other things that end up going in my pocket or locker or bag anyway.
Activity Key is one of the features making me buy this vehicle (well, almost). I do so many things making me leave my key-fob behind the wheel or in the bike rack rail I should consider myself lucky nobody has ever drove away with my car.
When chatting today with my wife about the F-Pace she mentioned "why not to wear the activity key all the time and just forget about the key-fob?". I think she is onto something - that thing should be an implant. Don't have the vehicle yet but already like they idea of the activity key - way cool!!!
I can say that if you leave your key in the car and activate the activity key (pressing the button on the trunk), the other key fob is still active and does unlock the car, though your key fob is still inactivated until you press the button on the trunk again to reactivate it. My wife had happen to unlock my car while I had my activity key active. She carries her key in her purse so that's how I found out.
Side note: I wish the jag made a beep when unlocking or locking he car via activity key. I can't sometimes hear or see the lights flash when the activity key is turned active or not.
Mine is 100%, a couple of things I've learned;
- key fob has to be in the car, I leave it in center console
- doesn't seem to like anything between activity key and the Jaguar tag, doesn't seem to work through clothing, neither locking or unlocking
- when unlocking, have to press the rear gate button first then rest the activity against the J is jaguar and give it a moment
If you at having problems worth re-reading the manual.
My works about half the time. Yet another half backed piece of tech that doesn't work as advertised. Autoblog has the SMS e issues. It's in today's post.
Mine works well when I have used it. I did have the decals taken off the rear of the car, except for the leaper, so it takes a sec to find where the J was, but when I do it work fine every time. Great for going to the beach...which we do often in the spring and summer .
I've used mine for stand up paddling, kitesurfing, and yoga class. It works pretty well, I have about a 90% success rate on first try activation on the "J." I think you have to be touching it and give it a solid second or two to register before it unlocks.
My only complaint is that I wish the strap were a little longer and had a better system for securing the strap end after the buckle. I don't have particularly large wrists and don't have too many notches left on my wrist strap. Fitted over a wetsuit, I'm maybe down to just a handful of notches. One little slider is not enough and it needs to be more robust so the strap tail can't come out either.
My Premium didn't come with keyless entry nor an activity key. So I looked at adding the AK as a way of getting keyless entry.
I am having it installed at my dealer on Thursday. Will update after the install.
The *Activity Key* just goes around your wrist ! There is nothing to *Install* !
It's not like it's a *Pace Maker* . . . . If it was , then you should have a Doctor do that , not the Dealer !>
Have gone paddle boarding at a lake by me and the activity key makes it so convenient. Leave the key fob in the center console (at least its large enough to hold the key fob ) activity key on wrist and thats it. It has worked 100% of the time, even after being submerged in water and covered in mud and dust... didn't realize how convenient it would make life.
hello activity keys users, quick question probably a dumb one. I was wondering if i can use two activity keys at the same time ( one for me and one for the wife) would they synchronize both or are they going to override each other? Thank you.
I think the activity keys are passive rfid chips. Interesting question if you can purchase two programmed to same vehicle. They would probably have to have identical rfid numbers and unlikely that is available but curiously await what you find out from a dealer.
you're probably right, they should have same number or same chip i would assume too. since once the activity key is activated it disable the keyfob and over ride it, so I would think that the antena and signal linked to my activity key would be unique.
I think some people also enjoy that the key fob is disabled when you use the activity key to lock the doors. While the app does not. Also, the activity key is waterproof, while my phone is not
If those don't concern you, then agree with saving some $$ on this.
I’ve just purchased the kit to install this, which I’ll do myself. Looks quite easy and the Jaguar manual estimates 0.4hr installation time including programming. I will need Jaguar (or someone with the Pathfinder Software/SDD) to activate the module but that should be it. Hopefully they don’t murder me with a stupid price.
I’ll let you know how I go.
touch it directly to the J in Jaguar on rear hatch to lock. to unlock, press the hatch open button the touch to j in jaguar. i’ve found has to be pretty direct contact between activity key wristband and the J. still love the activity key, use it all the time skiing and biking.
