Cracked Windshield

So now part of the Cracked Windshield Club! Anyone replace theirs? Safelite has done our other cars, but this one has the heated windshield gridlines, some special "liner" lining inside of windshield....ideas? Or does dealership have to replace?

Any windshield repair shop can replace the heated and top tint liner, just make sure you request OEM or same as OEM and make sure you specifically list those items. What’s a lot harder for them is if you have the auto brake nanny, that has a censor behind the rear view mirror, that usually needs to be re-calibrated and that’s a dealer only thing. My wife’s F pace got a crack, luckily enough I caught it in-time to fix it myself before it spread, so haven’t had to replace the windshield yet.

Had an irreparable crack last year. Like you, I have the heated windshield. Safelite replaced it with an OEM unit and a year later, I've had no problems whatsoever.

I've had two cracked windshields so far. As of the middle of 2018 there wasn't anything but OEM available. That may have changed now.

Heated windshield replaced by JN Phillips year and a half ago. No issues except for the time it took them to get an OEM one, but that was a while ago.

Just make sure you demand OEM and you'l have no concerns. Plenty of other high end car companies use these types of windshields and the brand-name companies are training their techs just fine to do the job. Our car is no different.
