Thanks for the helpful pic. For those about to attempt this project let me add a few necessary details. I purchased the 10" cord which is fine for installing your detector in the black-dot area of the windshield without excessive messy cord. If you plan to clip it to your sun visor, buy the 15" cord. You do NOT need a volt-meter. You just need your radar detector. Slide the black plastic mirror cover downward in the direction of the windshield. That will expose the red wiring harness clip seen in the picture above. Use needle-nose pliers to gently unplug the red wiring harness clip from the mirror. This gives you more room to work and makes it easier to insert your PowerTap electrodes. Use the SMALLEST PowerTap electrodes and gently work them underneath the existing wires. As others mentioned: Red under White/Blue. Black under Black. Once you've inserted the electrodes, plug the other end into your radar detector and press the ignition start button. Your detector should power on (unless you're a dummy like me and the detector was switched off--which I didn't realize until I wasted 5min being certain the electrodes were inserted enough!). Once you're sure it works, unplug your radar detector, plug the red harness clip back into the mirror, tuck the extra cable up near the windshield and cover it with the black plastic cover. SO REWARDING! I mounted my V1 in the driver side black-dot area with the V1 suction cups.
